Former I Prevail frontman Brian Burkheiser is continuing to carve out a bold new chapter with his solo project Scatterbrain, and the latest single, “Bitter,” has already landed a major spotlight.
Just days after its release, the hard hitting track has been announced as the official theme song for AEW Redemption, bringing Burkheiser‘s newest anthem to one of professional wrestling’s biggest stages.
The accompanying music video, released less than a week ago, has quickly gained traction online, amassing more than 200,000 views as fans continue to dissect what many believe is Burkheiser’s most personal song since departing I Prevail last year.

“Bitter” centres on themes of identity, betrayal and resilience, while Burkheiser hasn’t publicly confirmed the song’s inspiration, lyrics including “Can’t take my identity / It starts with me / It dies with me” and “Don’t forget that I’m the only reason that you tasted the fame” have fuelled widespread speculation among fans that the track reflects the fallout surrounding his exit from the platinum-selling metalcore outfit.
Whether autobiographical or intentionally open to interpretation, “Bitter” stands as Scatterbrain‘s most aggressive release to date.
The single follows Burkheiser’s launch of Scatterbrain last year with a reimagined cover of Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do.”
Since then, the project has steadily evolved through original releases including “Phases” and “Fast Lane,” showcasing a heavier, more personal creative direction outside the boundaries of his former band.
