In honour of the late Ozzy Osbourne, Double Fine Productions is giving away Brütal Legend for free for 666 minutes.
If you’re looking for something to cheer you up following the passing of Ozzy Osbourne, you’re in luck. Double Fine Productions, the creators of the heavy metal game Brütal Legend, have made the game free for 666 minutes to honour the late Prince of Darkness.
Double Fine made the announcement on social media, sharing:
“To honor Ozzy’s larger-than-life rock and roll legacy, we’re making Brütal Legend *FREE* on itch.io: But this incredible deal will only last for 666 minutes, as the prophecy foretold. So get yourself clicking, before it disappears like a demon in the night…”

If you haven’t played the game before, you’re in for a wild ride. Brütal Legend is Double Fine’s 2009 heavy metal-themed action adventure real-time strategy hybrid, starring Jack Black as Eddie Riggs, the world’s best roadie for the world’s worst metal band.
After an an unfortunate event, Eddie is transported to a fantasy world inspired by heavy metal album covers. There, he becomes the world’s savior, leading an uprising against the demons of hell.
Osbourne himself appears in the game as The Guardian of Metal, your trusty blacksmith who’ll upgrade your weapons throughout your quest and explain the history of the world to you.
A variety of metal icons also joined Osbourne in the game including Lemmy Kilmister, Rob Halford, and Lita Ford. The game’s soundtrack also features over 100 metal songs to help score your journey through the hellish world.
Double Fine announced the deal at 9am AEST, which means it’ll end tonight at 8:06pm. So be sure to get it quick if you haven’t given it a go before! You’re in for a very good treat.
