Ceres Climb the Peak with Magic Mountain Australian Tour Announcement

Share

Melbourne’s beloved indie-rock outfit, Ceres, have once again hit the summit with the release of their sprawling new double album, Magic Mountain (1996—2022), out today via Civilians. To celebrate this colossal effort, five years in the making, the band is embarking on a highly anticipated national tour set for February and March 2025. Bringing along fellow Melburnians Armlock, the tour promises to bring Ceres’ raw, emotional, and transcendent live energy back to fans across Australia.

Kicking off at Altar in Hobart on February 22, the Magic Mountain tour will traverse the country, hitting Adelaide, Perth, Sydney, and Brisbane before culminating in an unforgettable hometown show at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on March 14. It’s a long-awaited return, marking the band’s first national headline tour in over half a decade.

Produced by Joel Taylor and bolstered by Tom Bromley (Los Campesinos!), Magic Mountain is a deeply personal, genre-defying journey that spans 26 years of frontman Tom Lanyon’s life. From moving back to his roots in Melbourne’s Mt. Dandenong to navigating the emotional highs and lows of starting a family, the album is rich with tales of rediscovery, heartache, and joy.

Speaking on the album, Lanyon reflects, “It’s a record of nostalgia, melancholy, loss, and hope—26 years of my life, laid out in a row. Didn’t want it to be this long, but it had to be. You’ve just got to start climbing to get to the top. It’s worth it, trust me. You should see the view from up here.”

Ceres’ live shows are renowned for their visceral, heart-on-sleeve performances. With Magic Mountain in tow, this upcoming tour is sure to be no exception.
