Fans will have to fight to get all six exclusive posters to form Ken’s awesome Metallica mural.
Metallica madness is well and truly upon us, with the metal giants’ M72 tour underway with all the attendant guts, glory, and merch. No, we can’t forget the merch – you gotta fly the flag, and no flag should be flown higher than Australian artist Ken Taylor’s six exclusive M72 tour posters.
Taylor is a veteran commercial artist whose work is sought after in film and music circles – his poster for John Wick 4 is a masterpiece. He’s been at it for over 20 years, having broken through with a Queens Of The Stone Age poster in 2005 that saw him rocket to the top of a lot of wish lists.
Based in Fremantle, Western Australia, Taylor has produced stunning works for the likes of Pearl Jam, The Pixies, Phish, Willie Nelson, The National, The Avett Brothers, Jack White, Dave Matthews Band, Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones, and posters for The Thing (a personal fave), The Bride Of Frankenstein, Zombieland, and, somewhat incongruously, How To Train Your Dragon and Pixar’s Up. That’s range, baby. Check out his personal site here.
For Metallica’s M72 tour, Taylor has crafted six exclusive limited edition posters being sold at the Metallica pop up shops accompanying their current Australasian jaunt – one for each city, and each inspired by a ‘tallica tune. But if you’re lucky enough to get your mitts on all six, they join together to form a larger picture, like the world’s simplest, angriest jigsaw puzzle.
That means the poster for Auckland’s gig, happening November 19 at Eden Park, has yet to be released. I’ve noticed a few punters speculating as to what it might be inspired by, but really it’s anybody’s guess.
But the five so far, handily stitched together for your perusal, look like this:

If, by some dark miracle, you happen to snag all size, drop us a line – we’d love to see ’em.
