Cradle of Filth frontman Dani Filth has confirmed the band is gearing up to record their fifteenth album and follow-up to 2025’s The Screaming of the Valkyries.
After a tumultuous end to 2025, extreme metal group Cradle of Filth are seemingly gearing up to start recording their fifteenth album.
Frontman Dani Filth would share an update on the band’s next album in a new interview with Australia’s Heavy, which would also touch on the band’s 2025 release, The Screaming of the Valkyries and how it exceeded expectations.
“The Screaming Of The Valkyries, it’s really charted high. The fans love it. It’s the next step up in our evolutionary step,” Filth shared.
“The next record, which, obviously, we’re writing at the moment – almost finished writing – we’re gonna be in the studio in about three weeks. Again, [it] takes that to the next level.”
The band are still figuring out what the new album will sound like, with Filth admitting he and producer Scott Atkins have yet to go through the tracks to piece together their sound.
“We’ve moved the goalposts in all kinds of directions. It’s very hard to stipulate exactly what we’re doing. And, really, to be honest, it’s too early to be talking about our new album,” Filth conceded.
“We’ve got a huge amount of tracks and we haven’t even decided which ones are going on the record as yet. That’s up to me and the producer. Next week he’s gonna come and visit my house and we’re gonna siphon through everything and decide what’s a keeper and what isn’t, what might need development. So, yeah, again, very early to talk about it.”
The conversation would turn to the band’s recent output and extensive touring schedule, with Filth revealing that this is due to the band wanting to reconnect with audiences after COVID lockdowns.
“We’ve had a fantastic few years,” he said. “Post lockdown, obviously there’s been a lot of catching up to do. This is why we’ve been touring a lot, why we’ve been very creative. I think we’re definitely walking into the right direction. The fans seem to like it, and that sort of matters.”
Cradle of Filth are gearing up to embark on their Australian tour, which they’ll be co-headlining with DevilDriver in July.
Last year, Dani Filth would enter a very public back-and-forth with former keyboard player Zoë Federoff and her husband (then guitarist for Cradle of Filth), Marek “Ashok” Smerda. Throughout the tail-end of August, Federoff and Smerda would issue multiple online statements accusing Dani Filth and the band’s management of misconduct and underpaying band members.
Filth would respond to the allegations publicly, refuting them and sharing screenshots of texts.
In December, six former Cradle of Filth members would file a lawsuit against the band and Dani, which focused on the alleged commercial use of former members’ linesses and recorded performances after they had left the band. Filth has yet to comment on the lawsuit.
