Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time announced for October release

Maybe 2020 isn’t going to be so bad after all. After rumours over the weekend that started with a leak from a Taiwanese rating board, the new instalment in the beloved Crash Bandicoot series has officially been announced. Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will be released on on October 2, 2020. In a shift from the status quo of the games being exclusive to PlayStation, It’s About Time will be playable on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One and Xbox One X.

Set to be one of the last major releases before the PlayStation 5 drops for the holiday season, the new Crash adventure is claiming to be filled with new worlds, new powers like wall running, rail grinding and rope swinging, and some iconic bandicoot banter. “How many times have you beaten this clown anyway?”, Crash and Coco are asked at the end of the trailer. “Three”, Coco answers sneakily. That means that the new game will forgo fresher entries in the series, acting as a direct sequel to the original, and recently remastered, Naughty Dog trilogy.

To celebrate the announcement, Activision teamed up with music icon and Crash aficionado Quavo, who shared a sneak peek of the release’s gameplay via his socials. Activision Blizzard and developers Toys for Bob have created a story oriented on uniting Quantum Masks to restore order to the multiverse. Fans can play as Crash or Coco on their journey to save the world, but they’ll also be able to take the side of the baddies and play as villains like Neo Cortex, whose escape from a distant planet has ripped a hole in the fabric of space and time. Expect to see the return of Dr. N. Tropy and Uka Uka getting in the way of our heroes.
