Singer D4vd is “likely” to be indicted in connection with the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, according to a new TMZ report.
A new report has indicated that singer D4vd is “likely” to face murder charges for the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose body was found in an impounded Tesla registered to the ‘Feel It’ singer’s name.
According to TMZ, a grand jury is currently hearing the case and is expected to vote on indictments. Per the outlet, multiple sources have shared that authorities, including prosecutor Beth Silverman, believe D4vd was involved in the death of Rivas Hernandez.
Last month, it was reported that a grand jury had convened to gather information on the death of Rivas Hernandez and was not deciding on indictments. However, after testimony from D4vd’s manager, Robert Morgenroth, plans seem to have shifted.
As TMZ would report, Morgenroth faced intense questioning regarding why he didn’t contact the police. The manager shared his focus was on maintaining D4vd’s tour schedule, and that it “wasn’t his responsibility”.
Per the outlet, grand juries often align with prosecutors’ recommendations, and D4vd does not have the right to present a defense during these proceedings. Witnesses may continue to be heard into February, indicating that a quick indictment is unlikely.
On September 8, Hernandez’s body was found inside a bag in the front boot of the car, which was impounded after being parked for weeks. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s report, released later that month, noted the body was “severely decomposed,” with wavy black hair and a tattoo on her right index finger that read “Shhh…”. Officials confirmed the body had been inside the car for “an extended period of time before being found.”
In December, The New York Post reported that a ‘burn cage’ incinerator, which was advertised to burn at 1,600 degrees Fahrenheit (approx 871°C), was located at D4vd’s rented Hollywood Hills mansion at the time Hernandez’s body was found, according to a private investigator hired by the property owner.
The incinerator remained boxed and unused and was found inside. Private Investigator Steve Fischer, who conducted the search, described the item on X / Twitter as something you “would expect to find on a farm rather than in a home in the Hollywood Hills”.
Prior to Hernandez’s death being discovered, D4vd was set to perform at Spilt Milk Festival in late November, alongside international acts like Kendrick Lamar, Doechii and more. Aussie musician Genesis Owusu would replace D4vd on the lineup instead.
