The fallout surrounding As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis has intensified, with Dany Ciara publicly responding to his latest statement following her appearance on the BREWtally Speaking Podcast.

The nearly four hour episode, released on Sunday (December 28th), saw Ciara revisit allegations of abuse she has previously made against Lambesis, her former husband.

Shortly after the episode was released, Lambesis issued a statement suggesting that claims against him resurface only when his career regains momentum.

“I stayed quiet about my personal life because it wasn’t relevant to the work,” Lambesis wrote.

“I’m only speaking now because the same pattern keeps repeating. Old stories resurface only when my life and career move forward again.”

He went on to say, “I’m not interested in drama or attention. The music either stands on its own or it doesn’t,” adding that “If anything illegal had happened in the years since, it would have been addressed through proper channels.”

A lengthy response

Ciara responded publicly on Sunday night with a lengthy social media post, directly addressing Lambesis’ claims and disputing his framing of events.

“First, the claim that you ‘stayed quiet’ about your personal life this whole time is actually crazy,” she wrote.

“This entire last year, you have publicly slandered and lied about what happened during our marriage on Instagram and Facebook portraying yourself as the victim.”

She rejected the idea that her timing was motivated by his career, stating, “Survivors of abuse do not lose the right to tell the truth because time has passed, because the other person’s career has momentum, or because it’s inconvenient.”

Addressing Lambesis’ claim that legality determines credibility, Ciara wrote, “The idea that something isn’t real unless it’s prosecuted is crazy. Most abuse never goes through the legal system, and that doesn’t erase it.”

She also challenged his repeated use of “context matters”, claiming she had previously suggested they both present evidence publicly, which he declined.

“YOU REFUSED. Why is that?” she wrote.

Ciara concluded by asserting her right to speak on her own experience:

“I am not attaching myself to you. I am telling my story… Your work and music does not get veto power over my voice.”

Neither Lambesis nor representatives for As I Lay Dying have issued further statements at the time of writing.
