The January 2027 run brings There Near to five Australian cities, with public tickets available from noon in each city on 27 October.
Dinosaur Jr. will bring There Near to Australia and New Zealand in January 2027, with general tickets for their six-show tour going on sale on Tuesday 27 October. Frontier Touring lists a noon local-time release for each city.
The run opens at Auckland Town Hall on Saturday 16 January before heading to Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
The tour follows the release of There Near, the band’s 13th studio album and first in five years. As BLUNT reported when the record arrived on 28 August, Australian dates were expected to follow in 2027. Those plans now have venues and a ticket-sale date attached.
J Mascis, Lou Barlow and Murph last toured Australia and New Zealand in 2024 celebrating Where You Been. The new visit follows There Near, their sixth studio album since reuniting in 2005.
The record also reaches back to the band’s earliest guitar sound. In Jagjaguwar’s album notes, Mascis says he returned to a 1970s Mesa Boogie MK 1 amplifier of the kind used on their debut. The album was recorded in bursts over a year at Bisquiteen Studio in Amherst, Massachusetts, with piano and organ contributions from Ken Mauri.
Frontier Member and artist presales are already running, subject to allocation. General-sale times are local to each event city, as listed below.
Auckland and Sydney are listed as licensed all-ages shows. Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth are 18-plus. Frontier has not listed support acts or set times on its current tour page.
