Fresh off the release of their latest album TANZNEID, Electric Callboy have once again proven that almost nothing is off limits, this time taking on Michael Sembello’s 1983 smash hit “Maniac” and giving it the full electronicore treatment.
German genre mashers Electric Callboy recently stopped by Musora, where they were challenged to completely reinvent the iconic Flashdance anthem in just a single day, the result is exactly what you’d expect from a band that has built its career on turning the unexpected into absolute chaos.
Rather than simply recording a straightforward cover, the Musora session follows the band through the entire creative process, showing how “Maniac” evolves from an ’80s pop classic into a high energy blend of crushing riffs, dance beats, soaring hooks and trademark Electric Callboy absurdity.
The final performance stays recognisable enough to honour the original while injecting the band’s signature humour and genre-hopping style, making it feel like a song that could easily slot into one of their own live sets.
