Electric Callboy’s Drummer Dilemma Solved by Sum 41’s Frank Zummo

Good Things Festival 2024 just scored its first major plot twist. After Sum 41 pulled out of their headline slot due to Deryck Whibley’s illness, Electric Callboy were elevated to fill the gap.

But as fate would have it, their drummer, David Friedrich, had to bow out at the last minute and fly home, leaving the band in a tough spot just as the festival tour was about to kick off.

Enter Frank Zummo, Sum 41’s powerhouse drummer, to save the day.

A Quick Fix for the Chaos

In a stroke of good fortune, both bands’ managers happened to be staying in the same hotel. With the clock ticking, they devised a solution: Zummo would step in to cover drums for Electric Callboy across all Good Things Festival 2024 dates. Known for his precision and explosive energy, Zummo’s ability to seamlessly adapt to Electric Callboy’s electro-metalcore chaos ensures the band won’t miss a beat.

Speaking exclusively to Blunt Magazine backstage, Electric Callboy frontman Nico Sallach said: ‘It’s been a crazy 24 hours. We were gearing up for the worst, but Frank has been a lifesaver’.

Sum 41’s Cancellation Casts a Shadow

This turn of events comes in the wake of Sum 41’s sudden withdrawal from the festival and their entire Australian tour, following frontman Deryck Whibley’s diagnosis with pneumonia. The Canadian pop-punk icons shared their heartbreak over the decision in a statement, citing Whibley’s health as their top priority.

Good Things organisers have reassured fans that the festival will still deliver an unforgettable experience, with a lineup including Korn, Violent Femmes, Mastodon, and, now, Electric Callboy taking a central role.

Electric Callboy’s Moment to Shine
With Zummo behind the kit, Electric Callboy are set to prove why they’re one of the most entertaining live bands on the circuit. Their chaotic blend of metalcore and electronic beats is sure to fire up crowds in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane.

This unexpected pairing between Zummo and Electric Callboy is already shaping up to be a festival highlight, showcasing the resilience and camaraderie of the alternative music scene.
