Ex-SeeYouSpaceCowboy Vocalist Connie Sgarbossa Issues Joint Statement With Ex Over Abuse Allegations

Former SeeYouSpaceCowboy vocalist Connie Sgarbossa has issued a joint statement with her ex addressing the recent abuse allegations.

Connie Sgarbossa, the former vocalist of SeeYouSpaceCowboy, has broken her silence on recent abuse allegations with a joint statement shared alongside her ex-partner.

The statement arrives after nearly a week of escalating discourse online, which began when Sgarbossa’s ex posted detailed claims of abuse on a private social media account. Screenshots of those posts were later circulated publicly, prompting widespread backlash across the internet.

Sgarbossa posted the full joint statement to her X (formerly Twitter) account, explaining that her ex preferred to remain out of the public spotlight but agreed to a shared response. In their part of the statement, Sgarbossa’s ex acknowledged that making the private allegations public wasn’t their intention and took responsibility for the fallout.

“I take full accountability for that,” they wrote. “She fucked up a lot with me, and we had a very unhealthy relationship on both ends that stemmed from trauma bonding… If it was my choice, I would let her back in the community, but I would not be in a relationship with her again.”

They described their experience of the backlash that followed, saying, “My ex is also a person with real feelings, and she lost absolutely everything… the community she loved… her music career currently + anything in the future.”

They added, “Over the days of us talking, she has made it clear that she is willing to do anything to fix the damage she has caused… If I can forgive her, I don’t see why you guys can’t.” You can read their full statement below.

Sgarbossa followed with her own brief statement: “I have taken accountability to her privately for the things I owe her and we have worked through it privately because she does not want this to be aired out in public.” She also addressed her mental health and sobriety, noting, “I have done a lot of work and gotten clean off many things since me and this person were together… I do still have work to do on myself and plan to continue that work through my therapist and psyche and maintaining my medication.”

“People in my past and personal life have deserved a better version of me, and that journey of improvement is one that I know never stops and I am going to continue that journey for myself and for the people I have in my life. I know that this post is coming many days after this all began, but me and her wanted to really make sure that we talked through everything together before we each addressed this for a final time publicly.”

Sgarbossa departed from SeeYouSpaceCowboy earlier this year, citing internal tensions around other members’ support for individuals facing separate allegations.

Both parties now say they hope to move on privately. “We also would both just like to go back to our separate, boring lives and not have to keep rehashing this,” her ex concluded.

The joint statement marks what both describe as their final public word on the matter. For now, Sgarbossa’s future in music remains unclear, but it looks like this controversy has been put to bed.
