Finneas Fires Back At Critics Of Billie Eilish’s Anti-ICE Grammys Speech

Billie Eilish’s anti-ICE speech at the 2026 Grammy Awards is still sending shockwaves, and now her brother Finneas has entered the conversation with zero interest in playing nice.

The moment unfolded last weekend when Eilish accepted Song Of The Year for ‘Wildflower’, taken from her album ‘Hit Me Hard And Soft’, wearing a pin that read ‘ICE OUT’, the singer used her time onstage to speak out against US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

“Fuck ICE,” she said. “As grateful as I feel, I honestly don’t feel like I need to say anything but that no one is illegal on stolen land. It’s really hard to know what to say and what to do right now, and I feel really hopeful in this room.

“I feel like we just need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting, and our voices really do matter, and the people matter… and fuck ICE.”

The speech landed amid growing protests and condemnation of ICE in the US, particularly following reports linking the agency to the deaths of at least eight people in recent weeks.

Criticism came swiftly, US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem dismissed Eilish as “ill-informed”, while Elon Musk labelled her a “hypocrite”, that backlash prompted Finneas to publicly defend his sister on Threads.

“Seeing a lot of very powerful old white men outraged about what my 24-year-old sister said during her acceptance speech. We can literally see your names in the Epstein files,” he wrote.

Finneas also took aim at USA Today

After it published an article accusing Eilish and Bad Bunny of holding “idiotic views on politics and President Trump”.

Responding directly, he added:

You can’t say it doesn’t matter what musicians or celebrities say or think, but then talk about it for days. You’re out here making it matter. I’ll keep speaking up, especially if it keeps bothering you.”

Donald Trump chimes in

US President Donald Trump also weighed in, calling the ceremony ‘the worst‘, “garbage”, and ‘virtually unwatchable‘, while threatening legal action against host Trevor Noah over Epstein related jokes (per NME).

This isn’t new territory for Eilish, she has repeatedly condemned ICE in recent months, previously describing the agency as a ‘federally funded and supported terrorist group‘, the Department of Homeland Security later responded by blaming such rhetoric for increased assaults on law enforcement.

Alongside Eilish, Finneas and Bad Bunny, artists including Bruce Springsteen, Tom Morello, and Lady Gaga have also spoken out, making it clear this isn’t a fleeting pop star moment, but a widening line in the sand.
