Foo Fighters ‘Spit Shine’ Video Drops With Zombie Apocalypse Fun

Share

Foo Fighters have gone full horror mode, releasing a blood soaked new video for ‘Spit Shine’ that leans hard into zombie apocalypse carnage.

Directed by Dave Grohl himself, the clip ties into the band’s latest album ‘Your Favorite Toy’ and shows the Foos doing what they do best, playing loud while the world burns around them.

A gig gone very, very wrong

The ‘Spit Shine’ video opens with the band mid show, set against a towering Lemmy mural, it doesn’t stay celebratory for long with a swarm of zombies crashing the party, tearing through the crowd in a mess of limbs, screams, and gore.

By the time it wraps, the band are drenched in blood, still hammering through the track like nothing’s changed, it’s a pretty blunt visual metaphor, the Foos have always thrived with a little craziness, and here they’re literally standing their ground as everything collapses.

Grohl keeps it in the family

Grohl didn’t just sit in the director’s chair. His daughter Harper also played a role in casting and appears in the video, adding a personal layer to the project that cuts through the splatter.

‘Spit Shine’ follows a steady rollout from ‘Your Favorite Toy’, with previous singles ‘Asking For A Friend’, ‘Of All People’, ‘Caught In The Echo’, and the title track already circling.

SNL, surprise shows and what’s next

The band kept momentum rolling last weekend with a stop at Saturday Night Live UK, debuting ‘Caught In The Echo’ and ‘Child Actor’ live, they also popped up in a sketch alongside Nicola Coughlan and Jimmy Fallon, where Grohl casually agreed to become best friends on live TV, it’s silly, charming, and very on brand.

Back in London, fans at a listening party got a shock when Grohl and Pat Smear walked in mid karaoke performance of ‘Monkey Wrench’, turning a fan moment into something surreal (per NME).

The bigger picture

Critically, ‘Your Favorite Toy’ is landing somewhere in the middle, there’s power in the stripped back, fast and loud approach, even if not every track hits with the same weight.

With a massive European run locked in and an Australian and New Zealand tour confirmed for late 2026 into early 2027, Foo Fighters aren’t slowing down, if anything, ‘Spit Shine’ proves they’re still willing to get messy.
