Foo Fighters have surprised fans with a new live release, dropping a six track EP as their Take Cover world tour continues across North America.
Foo Fighters – Are Playing Where??? Vol. II arrived on Friday, August 7th, serving up live recordings captured during a pair of intimate shows earlier this year.
The release features a mix of newer material and some of the band’s biggest songs, giving fans a taste of what the current Foo Fighters live show sounds like beyond the band’s huge festival and arena performances.
Three tracks come from the band’s latest album, Your Favorite Toy, with live versions of “Of All People,” “Window” and the album’s title track included on the EP.

The remaining three songs reach further back into the Foo Fighters catalogue, with “These Days” from Wasting Light, “My Hero” from The Colour and the Shape and “Aurora” from There’s Nothing Left to Lose completing the release.
“Somebody’s got to do something for Taylor,” Dave Grohl said while introducing “Aurora” during the band’s recent live shows, continuing the tradition of dedicating the song to late drummer Taylor Hawkins.
The six recordings were captured during special underplay performances at New York’s Irving Plaza and New Jersey’s Starland Ballroom in April and May.
There’s also a charitable element to the release. Like the first Are Playing Where??? volume, proceeds from the new EP will be donated to local charities, with the release available as a “pay what you want” download.
On the road
Meanwhile, Foo Fighters have officially begun the North American portion of their Take Cover world tour, opening the run in Toronto on August 4th.
The band are currently balancing songs from across their extensive catalogue with material from Your Favorite Toy, alongside an acoustic portion of the set that moves the performance to a smaller stage.
