GAYC/DC Reschedule Australian Tour, Add New Dates For August Run

Share

Australia’s loudest queer rock export is officially locked back in.

GAYC/DC, the world’s first and only all gay tribute to AC/DC, have rescheduled their debut Australian tour to August, with all previously purchased tickets remaining valid, the run has also expanded, adding new stops in Coffs Harbour and Ballarat.

If you’re unfamiliar, GAYC/DC aren’t your average tribute act, founded by Christopher Freeman of queercore pioneers Pansy Division alongside drummer Brian Welch, the band flips AC/DC’s famously hyper masculine catalogue into something glitter soaked, leather clad and defiantly queer, without ever sacrificing the muscle of the original riffs.

Classic Rock Magazine (per press release) summed it up cleanly: GayC/DC have taken the songs of perhaps the globe’s most heterosexual band and turned them into something altogether more fabulous.”

Camp Meets Crunch

The idea alone could’ve been novelty. Instead, it’s earned serious backing across the rock world.

Kerrang! describe them as “Glam/Sassy/Porn/Punk/Metal/Dirty Rock ’n’ Roll… with class,” while Louder call their show “spot on with the music, unforgettable in every way.” Broadway Rock added, “While the band and their presentation may be campy, their musicianship is pure, unadulterated rock.”

Reworks like ‘Dirty Dudes (Done Dirt Cheap)’ and ‘Gay Boy Boogie’ lean into subversion without mocking the source material. Even Dee Snider gave his stamp of approval, declaring: “I think this is great!”

Their take on ‘Highway to Hell’ has featured cameos from Johnny Martin, John Bush and dUg Pinnick, underlining that this project isn’t being laughed at, it’s being embraced.
