Kong is king as the second season of Monarch lumbers our way.
I am a man of simple pleasures: give me the Hollow Earth Theory, gravity-manipulating ancient civilisation, shadowy government conspiracies, and a few giant monsters beating the living hell out of each other and I’m a happy camper. Which means I am a huge fan of Legendary’s MonsterVerse, whose latest iteration is lumbering our way early next year.
Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters Teaser Trailer
What’s the plot?
The tl;dr is that this thing is about the history of the titular Monarch, the secret government organisation that monitors the various giant freakin’ monsters that inhabit the world of the franchise – Titans, in the parlance of the show. And, as the official synopsis spells out for us:
Season one of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters tracks two siblings looking to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows.
Season two will pick up with the fate of Monarch — and the world — hanging in the balance. The dramatic saga reveals buried secrets that reunite our heroes (and villains) on Kong’s Skull Island, and a new, mysterious village where a mythical Titan rises from the sea. The ripple effects of the past make waves in the present day, blurring the bonds between family, friend and foe — all with the threat of a titan event on the horizon.
Who’s in it?
- Anna Sawai as Cate Randa, a San Francisco teacher coping searching for her missing father.
- Kiersey Clemons as May, a former employee of Applied Experimental Technologies turned whistleblower,
- Ren Watabe as Kentaro, Cate’s artist half-brother.

When’s it out?
Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters returns to Apple TV on February 27, 2026. 10 episodes this season, gang – one a week, old school.
What’s the vibe?
As long as you can get over the idea that the entire world wouldn’t notice giant monsters occasionally going on the rampage for decades – a necessary pill to swallow here – you’re in for a good time.
