Godflesh are preparing to close another chapter, with the industrial metal pioneers announcing their tenth and penultimate album, Decay, alongside the release of new single “Living/Ending”.
The new Godflesh album is due September 25th, 2026 through Relapse Records, Decay follows 2022’s Purge and was largely assembled from the same recording sessions that produced that album.
The six track record sees mastermind Justin Broadrick and bassist Ben Green returning to material that has been sitting in the vaults, with Broadrick ultimately selecting a different collection of songs for Decay.
“Decay was born from the same sessions as Purge,” says mastermind Justin Broadrick (per Next Mosh).
“It was one huge pool of songs. I picked what I felt was appropriate for what I wanted to achieve with Purge, with the intention of releasing the songs that didn’t fit as a new album within a year of Purge being released.”
That plan took considerably longer than expected, but the result now arrives as what Broadrick describes as the second last Godflesh album.

The recordings were completed before Broadrick underwent major abdominal surgery earlier this year, with the album subsequently mixed following the procedure.
That experience appears to have reinforced the sense that Decay represents a significant point in Godflesh’s history.
Broadrick has been increasingly candid about the physical demands associated with continuing the project, describing the upcoming record as part of the band’s closing chapter.
“I’ve put my body and soul into this expression for the majority of my existence,” Broadrick says. “I feel quite lucky, because Godflesh is now physically impossible for me, rendering it useless. I now wish to move out of its constraints, move on creatively with heavy/ugly music to new ground.”
For a band that has spent decades pushing industrial and extreme music into increasingly bleak territory, the announcement gives Decay an added sense of finality.
Before that chapter closes, however, fans have a six track record to absorb.
The newly released “Living/Ending” provides the first taste of the album, with the track sitting alongside “Master and Slave”, “Feral Colony”, “Fear of Man”, “Fodder” and “Consume Me”.
