Gorillaz Share New Single ‘God of Lying’ Featuring IDLES

Gorillaz have shared the single, ‘God of Lying’, featuring IDLES’ Joe Talbot. The release marks the track taken from the upcoming album ‘The Mountain’, releasing March 20th, 2026.

The Gorillaz have shared a third single taken from their upcoming ninth album, The Mountain, set to release March 20th, 2026. The new track, ‘God of Lying’, features a drowsy performance from IDLES’ very own Joe Talbot, who lays down a spoken-word vocal for this one.

The previous Spark’s collab ‘The Happy Dictator’ and last month’s’ The Manifesto,’ which featured Trueno and a posthumous feature from rapper Proof, set the stage for the album’s genre-blending and left-field style changes throughout the album.

‘God of Lying’ leans into the unsettling, paranormal vibe of the album with its woozy melody and reggae rhythm. The track was recorded in London, Devon and Mumbai with Ajay Prasanna on bansuri and percussion by Viraj Acharya. The track also came with a quote from Gorillaz member 2D, saying, “Can I tell you a secret? Doubt is very tiring but questioning things is really good for you.”

The upcoming LP was recorded primarily at Albarn’s Studio 13 in London, in addition to locations in Mumbai, New Delhi, Rajasthan, and Varanasi, India; Ashgabat, Turkmenistan; Damascus, Syria; Los Angeles; Miami; and New York.z

The Mountain seems to be no different, and will feature collaborations with Idles, Kara Jackson, Yasiin Bey, Johnny Marr of The Smiths, Black Thought of The Roots, Anoushka Shankar, and Omar Souleyman. The album will also include the number of deceased figures, including Bobby Womack, Dave “Trugoy the Dove” Jolicoeur, actor Dennis Hopper, the Fall’s Mark E. Smith, Detroit rapper Proof, and Tony Allen.
