Guilt Trip Just Dropped Their Own Adidas Superstar Collab

Share

Guilt Trip are stepping into a very different kind of rollout ahead of their new album Armour Of Angels.

The Manchester crossover outfit have officially partnered with Adidas for a limited edition run of Superstar II sneakers featuring custom Guilt Trip branding, landing Saturday, June 6th, just one day after the release of their upcoming Roadrunner Records album.

For a band rooted heavily in hardcore, metal and UK street culture, the collaboration actually makes a lot of sense (per The PRP).

Drummer Tom Aimson explained the connection while speaking with Hypebeast, saying:

“Adidas is ingrained in our culture. Being from the north of England, you see the brand in music, football and beyond because it’s what people relate to the most around here. We’re honored to be working with them on a shoe, especially the Superstar II.”

He added: “Superstars were everywhere when we were kids. Seeing Korn, Slipknot and all the other megal bands wearing them in the late ’90s-early ’00s was a massive influence as well as the general Manchester style.”

Making waves

The timing lines up perfectly with what already feels like a huge moment for the band, following the surprise release of their God Forgives EP earlier this year, Guilt Trip confirmed Armour Of Angels would arrive June 5th, pulling tracks like “Dirt”, “Angel Eyes” and “Burn” into a much larger and more fully realised record.

The album also marks another step forward in the band’s evolution sonically, rather than handing control over externally, Guilt Trip handled production duties themselves, while Periphery’s Nolly Getgood and Robin Adams took care of mixing and engineering.

The result is expected to push further into the space between hardcore and polished modern metal without sanding off the aggression that made the band stand out in the first place.

Between the Adidas collaboration, Roadrunner backing and growing momentum around Armour Of Angels, Guilt Trip are starting to look less like an underground favourite and more like a band gearing up for a much bigger stage.
