GWAR are bringing their blood-soaked theatrics to a new album with cult horror host Joe Bob Briggs, featuring live recordings, horror-themed tracks and a new single, ‘Splatter-Fu’.
GWAR have spent more than four decades turning heavy metal shows into gloriously grotesque spectacles. Now, the intergalactic shock rockers are teaming up with cult horror host Joe Bob Briggs for an album that brings their shared appetite for blood, guts and outrageous entertainment together.
Titled GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein, the record arrives on 13 November 2026 via GWAR’s Pit Records, featuring music from the band alongside Briggs’ The Last Drive-In house band, John Brennan and the Bigfeet.
Rather than a conventional studio collaboration, the album brings together recordings from GWAR’s appearance on The Last Drive-In‘s 2025 Halloween special and songs created for the horror television series.
According to GWAR’s official announcement, the record’s first side captures the band’s Halloween performance, mixing original material with covers of songs associated with Briggs’ long-running horror franchise.
The six-track set includes GWAR favourites ‘Fuck This Place’ and ‘Gor-Gor’, alongside ‘Joe Bob Is Back In Town’, ‘Lot Lizard’ and ‘Drive-In Oath’.
It also features ‘Splatter-Fu’, a new song written specifically for GWAR by Brennan. The track has been released alongside an official music video to coincide with the album announcement.
The second side shifts the spotlight to John Brennan and the Bigfeet, featuring material written for the final two seasons of The Last Drive-In.
Among its ten tracks are ‘Everyone Loves Halloween’, ‘Gettin’ Ripped at the Drive-In’ and ‘Up All Nightmareathon’, alongside a 2023 demo of ‘Splatter-Fu’ and two recordings from Jamboree ’23.
The collection marks the house band’s third official soundtrack release connected to The Last Drive-In.
For GWAR, whose elaborate costumes, practical effects and deliberately excessive performances have long blurred the boundaries between music, horror and underground theatre, the collaboration feels like a natural extension of their world.
Briggs, meanwhile, has spent 40 years on television building a following through his irreverent commentary on horror, exploitation and cult cinema.
Together, the two acts bring their respective brands of theatrical mayhem to a release that celebrates the overlap between heavy music and cult horror entertainment.
GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein will be available on vinyl, CD and digital download from 13 November 2026, with pre-orders open through GWAR’s official website.
