Ice Nine Kills are taking their love of horror one step further, with the band set to create new music for Universal Studios Hollywood’s ‘Terror Tram Starring Art the Clown’ at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights.
The experience returns on September 3rd and will run on select nights through November 1st, with Terrifier’s Art the Clown taking over Universal’s famous backlot for a twisted Christmas themed nightmare.
Rather than simply providing a soundtrack, Ice Nine Kills will create original music specifically for the attraction, including sinister takes on classic Christmas songs.
Art the Clown will also appear throughout the wider theme park, meaning visitors may encounter the character beyond the Terror Tram itself.
The collaboration feels like a natural progression for Ice Nine Kills, who have increasingly blurred the line between horror cinema and their own theatrical brand of metal.
The band previously contributed ‘A Work of Art’ to Terrifier 3, with the accompanying music video featuring Art the Clown himself, played by David Howard Thornton, the track has now amassed almost 60 million streams.
A natural step
Speaking about the new collaboration, vocalist Spencer Charnas said (per Next Mosh):
“We are forever honored that Terrifier writer/director Damien Leone and his team invited us to play in their sandbox of bloodshed. Halloween Horror Nights is among our favorite destinations each season, and our fans love it, too. This is yet another natural step forward in our unnatural world of horror.”
It is far from the band’s only recent venture into horror, Ice Nine Kills have also created music connected to Scream 7, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come and Dead by Daylight, continuing a run of collaborations that have made horror culture a major part of the band’s identity.
Ice Nine Kills Australian tour
Australian fans will also have their own chance to catch Ice Nine Kills live next month, with the band heading Down Under alongside Electric Callboy.
The Australian run kicks off in Perth on September 4th before moving through Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney, followed by two Brisbane shows at Riverstage, the September 12 performance is already long sold out, with tickets remaining for the September 13th date.
