Ice Nine Kills have carved out another major milestone, landing the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Hard Rock Songs chart with ‘Twisting The Knife’.

The track, which features actor and singer Mckenna Grace, debuted straight at No. 1 this week, adding another high profile moment to Ice Nine Kill’s steady climb into somewhat of a mainstream territory.

Built around the band’s signature horror theatrics, ‘Twisting The Knife’ appears on the official soundtrack for ‘Scream 7’, continuing Ice Nine Kills’ long running obsession with slasher cinema.

A Tribute To ‘Scream’

For frontman Spencer Charnas, the track carries a personal connection to the franchise that helped shape his love of horror:

“Twisting the Knife is our tribute to Wes Craven and the Scream franchise, which means so much to us. Scream is baked into the DNA of who I am and of Ice Nine Kills—my love of horror, comedy, and the collision between the two. I was already obsessed with Halloween and Friday the 13th, but Scream was the first I saw in theaters. Hearing the killer talk about horror movies, in that distinctively pop-culture savvy Kevin Williamson way, blew my mind.”

The single expands the band’s ever growing ‘INKverse’, blending cinematic storytelling with the band’s metalcore theatrics.

Ghostface Enters The INKverse

The accompanying music video leans heavily into the Scream universe, featuring Roger L. Jackson reprising his role as the voice of Ghostface, alongside appearances from David Arquette and other horror nods.

The collaboration with Mckenna Grace adds another unexpected layer.

“When we learned that Mckenna Grace is a fan of our band, it made perfect sense to invite her to sing,” Charnas says. “She recorded her part in my home studio, in the same room where I keep my screen-used Scream knife prop, one of the four rubber knives made for the first movie.”

Horror And Metal Continue To Collide

Ice Nine Kills have built their identity on the collision between heavy music and horror storytelling, but ‘Twisting The Knife’ feels like a particularly fitting moment for the band , a Scream inspired track topping Billboard’s Hard Rock chart proves their theatrical approach is still cutting through.

For a band that once felt like cult horror nerds with guitars, the fact they’re now sitting at No. 1 on Billboard shows just how far the INKverse has spread.
