Ivan Moody Hints At Motograter Reunion As Rumours Swirl About His Return

Share

Ivan Moody might be circling back to where it all started.

The Five Finger Death Punch frontman has fuelled rumours that he’s rejoined Motograter, the industrial metal wrecking crew that helped introduce his voice to the wider scene back in the early 2000s.

Nothing has been officially announced by the band yet, but this week the speculation picked up speed after former Motograter member Michael ‘The Kidd’ Stewart claimed online that Moody is back in the lineup.

That alone would’ve been enough to get people talking, but now Moody himself has jumped in with a social post suggesting he’s set to hang out with the Motograter crew this weekend.

He didn’t outright confirm a full reunion, but the timing feels loud, fans have taken it as a pretty strong hint something’s happening behind closed doors.

Motograter Have Always Been A Stop Start Band

If you’ve followed Motograter over the years, you’ll know they’ve never exactly been built for stability, originally formed in 1995, split in 2005, reunited briefly for a one off in 2006, then returned again between 2008 and 2011. They came back once more from 2013 to 2018.

That’s a lot of starting, stopping, and starting again for a band with a cult reputation and a seriously unique identity.

Across their whole timeline, Motograter have released two full length albums, their self-titled debut in 2003, and ‘Desolation’ in 2017, plus three EPs dropped between 1998 and 2009.

The Moody Era Is The One People Remember

Motograter’s most widely recognised run was between 2002 and 2005, when Ivan Moody was on vocals.

His performances sit right at the centre of their 2003 self-titled album, which gained extra attention through soundtrack placements like NASCAR Thunder 2004 and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Not long after leaving the band, Moody went on to become a household name in heavy music with Five Finger Death Punch, as it stands, there’s no official word on new music, tour dates, or an updated lineup. But with a former member teasing it and Moody giving the internet a wink and a nudge, a Motograter comeback suddenly feels a lot less like wishful thinking.
