As the first anniversary of Ozzy Osbourne’s passing approaches on July 22nd, Jack Osbourne has shared a heartfelt request with fans around the world, encouraging them to celebrate his father’s life by sharing memories instead of mourning his loss.
Posting to Instagram ahead of the inaugural #OzzyDay, Jack admitted the lead up to the anniversary has been emotionally challenging as his family prepares to mark one year since losing the heavy metal icon.
“This month has been really just ups and downs for me, a mixed bag of emotions. A lot of people have asked me what my plan is for the 22nd. Am I gonna do anything? And I don’t know. This is the first time for me. This is first one year. So I’ve been sat around and I’ve been thinking a lot.”
Rather than asking fans to dwell on grief, Jack hopes social media will instead become a collection of personal memories celebrating Ozzy‘s remarkable impact.
“Here’s what I want,” he continues. “I would like anyone who’s listening to this, anyone who is compelled, anyone who just wants to share a story about my dad to share a story. Whether it’s the first time you listened to his music, the first time you saw him play live or a time you saw him play live where something stood out to you. Or you had an actual encounter with him. Or whether you just want to talk about what his music meant to you. That’s what I want. I want to fill the entire day entire day of July 22 with just awesome Ozzy stories.”

Jack added that fans should use #OzzyDay so he can read their posts, explaining that celebrating his father’s life is exactly what Ozzy would have wanted (per Loudwire).
“So yeah, that’s my ask. Please, get thinking, get posting, spread the love. That’s what my dad would want. He would not want us to all be sat around shedding tears because that’s not his vibe.”
The online tribute coincides with Birmingham’s first official Ozzy Day, where the Black Sabbath legend’s hometown will host live music, tribute performances, public art installations, film screenings and celebrations across the city.
Iconic locations including the Black Sabbath Bench, Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery and New Street Station will become focal points for fans paying tribute to one of rock’s most influential figures.
For fans unable to make the journey to Birmingham, Jack’s message is simple: remember the music, share the stories and keep Ozzy’s legacy alive through the moments that made him unforgettable.
