Jack White has called out Donald Trump after the US President wrote a controversial post in response to beloved director and actor Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer’s death.
Jack White has spoken out against Donald Trump after the US President shared an unhinged rant regarding the murder of beloved actor and director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner.
White, among other celebrities, would share a response on Instagram, reposting a screenshot of Trump’s Truth Social post. The former White Stripes frontman would write:
“Trump you disgusting, vile, egomaniac, loser, child. Neither he nor any one of his followers can defend this gross, horrible insult to a beautiful artist who gave the world so much. To use someone’s tragic death to promote your own vanity and fascist authoritarian agenda is a corrupt and narcissistic sin. Shame on you Trump and anyone who defends this. God bless you Rob Reiner and thank you for what you gave the world. I never even met you and I still stand by you.”
Trump’s post would open by calling Rob and Michele Reiner’s murder a “very sad thing”, before launching into a bizarre rant about how the director and his wife passed away due to the “anger he caused others” through their supposed affliction with “Trump derangement syndrome”.
Since his initial post, several celebrities and political figures from across the aisle have come out to condemn Trump’s post.
Josh Gad would write on Threads, “There is no low that is too low for this f*cking psychopath,” the Frozen star would write similarly sharing a screenshot from Trump’s post.
Even former Republican US House member Marjorie Taylor Greene would write: “This is a family tragedy, not about politics or political enemies. Many families deal with a family member with drug addiction and mental health issues. It’s incredibly difficult and should be met with empathy, especially when it ends in murder”.
Greene would refer to recent reports from the Los Angeles Police, who shared that they had arrested Nick Reiner, Rob and Michelle’s 32-year-old son, on suspicion that he is connected to the Reiners’ homicide. In their statement, the Los Angeles Police would go as far as to say Nick was “responsible” for the victims’ deaths.
Later reports also stated that Nick was seen arguing with his father at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party on Saturday. Nick is currently booked on suspicion of murder and is being held without bail.
