Jelly Roll Makes It Three, Wins Best Contemporary Country Album At The 2026 Grammys

Jelly Roll’s 2026 Grammys run has gone from “what a moment” to full blown sweep.

After picking up two early wins during the Grammys Premiere Ceremony, Jelly Roll returned during the main broadcast to claim a third trophy, winning Best Contemporary Country Album for Beautifully Broken.

Notably, it’s the first-ever time the Grammys have handed out that specific award, after splitting the country album category into contemporary and traditional (per US magazine).

Jelly Roll accepted the award at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 1st, delivering a speech that was raw, spiritual, and painfully honest.

“First of all, Jesus, I hear you and I am listening, Lord. I am listening, Lord,” Jelly Roll, 41, began in his acceptance speech.

“Second of all, I wanna thank my beautiful wife. I would have never changed my life without you. I would have ended up dead or in jail, I would have killed myself if it wasn’t for you. I thank you for that.”

After thanking his label, he explained the emotional core of the album:

“There was a time in my life, y’all, that I was broken. That’s why I wrote this album,” he explained. “I didn’t think I had a chance, y’all. There was days that I thought the darkest things. I was a horrible human. There was a moment in my life when all I had was a bible this big and a radio the same size in a six-by-eight-foot cell, and I believed that those two things could change my life. I believed that music had the power to change my life and God had the power to change my life, and I wanna tell y’all right now, Jesus is for everybody. Jesus is not owned by one political party. Jesus is not owned by no music label. Jesus is Jesus, and everybody can have a relationship with him.”

Other nominees

The nominees in the category included Kelsea Ballerini (Patterns), Tyler Childers (Snipe Hunter), Eric Church (Evangeline vs. The Machine) and Miranda Lambert (Postcards From Texas).

The category split comes after Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter won Best Country Album in 2025, sparking debate over what counts as “country” at the Grammys. Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. has since insisted the change had been proposed for years.

Either way, Jelly Roll just became the first artist to hold this particular crown, and he earned it the hard way.

Three Grammys

The country star also won best country duo/group performance for his collaboration with Shaboozey on ‘Amen’, and also took out best contemporary Christian music performance/song for his track with Brandon Lake, ‘Hard Fought Hallelujah’.
