The Bill and Ted duo are set to star in Samuel Beckett’s classic play on Broadway.

One of cinema’s favourite duos is set to embody one of theatre’s most famous. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, forever famous as the stars of Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, will take on the roles of Vladimir and Estragon in Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot on Broadway this September.

We have managed to resist all the obvious puns. I mean, Waiting for Godot-whoa! was right there.

Directed by Jamie Lloyd, whose West End production of Much Ado About Nothing with Tom Hiddleston and Hayley Atwell just smashed box office records, Waiting for Godot previews at the Hudson Theatre on September 13 before opening on September 28. the season runs until January 4, 2026. Just in case you were considering risking the US border to catch the show.

Premiering in Paris in 1953, Waiting for Godot is easily one of the greatest works of theatre of all time. A circuitous, existential meditation on life, the universe, and everything, it’s seen a number of acclaimed production, with the most famous today probably being the 2013 Broadway run that saw Ian McKellen as Estragon and Patrick Stewart as Vladimir. For the new production, Reeves is slipping into Estragon’s ragged coat, while Winter dons Vladimir’s equally threadbare ensemble.

And yes, it might be tempting to mock the idea of film’s most famous Valley bros tackling Beckett’s lofty masterpiece, but really: why not? Waiting for Godot is an absurdist comedy, after all, and it’s certainly piqued our interest. and Reeves and Winter seem excited – check it out:
