Good Fortune Trailer
What’s the plot?
Not to be confused with Good Omens, that other angel-centric work about to quietly release its third an final season, Good Fortune sees Keanu as Gabriel, an angel with a fairly low station in the Celestial Order. Ordinarily, he’s just tasked with saving people from texting and driving. But what he really wants to do is save lost souls. He finds one in the form of Ari, Aziz Ansari’s put-upon gig worker, and off we go.
In an effort to prove to Ari that money doesn’t solve all your problems, Gabriel puts Ari into the body of his boss, the wealthy Jeff, played by Seth Rogan, and comedy presumably ensues.
Looking at the trailer, Gabriel takes to the material plane with gusto. So, it’s a little like the old John Travolta vehicle, Michael. Or, if you’re classy, Wim Wenders’ monochrome masterpiece, Wings of Desire. No Nick Cave in this one, though. Well, probably. But PJ Harvey did once release a song called “Good Fortune“, which is an odd coincidence.
Who’s in it?
- Seth Rogen as Jeff, a rich guy who lives a life of hedonistic excess.
- Aziz Ansari as Arj, who works as Jeff’s errand boy.
- Keanu Reeves as Gabriel, an angel.
Cherry Cola, Stephen McKinley Henderson, and Keke Palmer are also on board in undisclosed roles.
When’s it out?
Good Fortune is in Australian cinemas from October 16, 2025.
What’s the vibe?
Well, this looks like fun, yeah? That’s a bravura piece of casting, make no mistake, and Aziz Ansari’s comedy chops are solid. Kinda side-eyeing that “money won’t solve all your problems” bit, though. Sure, maybe it wouldn’t solve everything, but it’d certainly knock a few of the more urgent food and shelter issues on the head. Hopefully that gets subverted hard.
