All That Remains have officially welcomed Ken Susi as their new guitarist, marking a major shift for the long running metalcore outfit.
The move follows Jason Richardson’s departure last July and continues the band’s ongoing evolution in the wake of original guitarist Oli Herbert’s passing in 2018.
Susi confirmed the news himself, closing the loop on months of speculation and for fans of late ’90s and early 2000s metalcore, the addition makes immediate sense.
Susi was a co-founder of Unearth, helping shape the band’s sound for nearly 25 years before departing in 2023, he later joined As I Lay Dying, though that stint was short lived, ending in 2024.
Now, he’s landed in familiar territory:
“I’m incredibly honored to be joining All That Remains as their new guitarist. My connection to this band goes back to the late ’90s, when I first met Mike, Oli and Phil at underground shows in Western Massachusetts. Those early days shaped so much of who I am, and coming back together now truly feels full circle.”
Beyond résumé points, Susi’s history with the band runs deep on a personal level, particularly when it comes to Oli Herbert, his statement makes clear that stepping into this role is about respect as much as responsibility.
“I’m also deeply honored to step in for my late friend Oli Herbert. Oli was not only an extraordinary musician, but a close friend whose presence and influence will always be felt. His shoes can never truly be filled, and I carry his spirit with me every time I pick up the guitar.”
Musically and emotionally
Herbert’s passing left a permanent mark on All That Remains, both musically and emotionally, rather than attempting to replace him outright, the band appears to be moving forward with someone who understands that weight.
“After decades of friendship, shared history, and mutual support, it means everything to get on stage with this band and contribute to a project I genuinely believe in. I can’t wait to hit the road and share what we’ve been working on with all of you.
“See you out there.”
With Susi now officially in the fold, All That Remains are clearly entering a new chapter grounded in shared history rather than reinvention for reinvention’s sake.
