The late KISS guitarist could be an honourary NASA inductee, if one dedicated fan hs anything to say about it.
Following the tragic death of KISS guitarist Ace Frehley last month at the age of 74, one member of the KISS Army has hot upon a perfect wat to memorialise the late Spaceman: make him an honourary astronaut.
The that end, a fan known only as Kathryn has started a petition on Change.org encouraging NASA to make Frehly an honourary astronaut. What’s the KISS Army equivalent of the Congressional Medal of Honour?
“On October 16, 2025, the world lost not just a legend, not just a rock icon, but also a good man,” the pitch reads. “Paul Daniel ‘Ace’ Frehley, at the tender age of 21, was brave enough to take one small orange step and one small red step, and make the giant leap into the global phenomenon that we all now know as KISS. And while MOST of his dreams ended up coming true, at least ONE did NOT.
“When he suddenly passed away from a brain bleed following a head injury at 74, he was still only merely PLAYING the character of a Space Cadet. He NEVER got to be one for REAL. In honor of his memory, all the lives directly and indirectly impacted by him, and his one last remaining unfulfilled wish, NASA should posthumously make Ace Frehley an honorary astronaut with the rank of “Captain”, because a celestial being of his caliber doesn’t deserve anything less of a send-off than this. His last countdown should be his absolute BEST!”
Well, you can’t fault the passion, can you?
At the time of writing the petition only has 381 signatures, which is more of a KISS platoon than a KISS army, but the signatories are a pretty passionate bunch.
“We MUST make Ace Frehley an honorable astronaut!!!!” one who signed under the name Gunnar posted. “WHY you may ask….WHY NOT??? The man was fascinated with space and wanted to even go in a rocket.”
“Ace was only here visiting. He’s off to the stars. Leaving us some amazing rock n roll. It’s a great way to say thanks.” another wrote.
NASA have yet to comment.
