Kneecap To Join Nuestra América Convoy To Cuba

Irish rap trio Kneecap have announced that they will join the humanitarian effort to relieve the US’s blockade of the Caribbean nation.

Irish rap trio Kneecap have never been shy about displaying their revolutionary politics, which is not surprising for three lads from Belfast. Having flown the flag for both Irish reunification and Palestinian sovereignty – with the latter position seeing Mo Chara up on a terrorism-related charge in May 2025 that was later dropped – they’ve now put their support behind the international effort to deliver humanitarian aid to Cuba.

Kneecap released a statement on Instagram, writing:

We’re mobilizing to Cuba 🇨🇺🇮🇪

Next week, we will join the Nuestra América Convoy to Cuba, delivering critical aid to the Cuban people.

The Trump administration is strangling the island, cutting off fuel, flights, and critical supplies for survival.

It’s time to break the siege — and stand up for Cuba, as they have stood up for us.

“In my son’s veins flowed the blood of Irish rebels.” — Ernesto Guevara Lynch, speaking of his son ‘Che’ Guevara

Cuba is heavily reliant on oil supplies from Venezuela and Mexico. While the US have long maintained an economic embargo on the socialist state, which was first implemented in 1962, under the second Trump administration, a total blockade on oil imports has been enacted, with the US preventing all tankers from reaching the island nation. Other nations have been threatened with sanctions and tariffs should they attempt to break the blockade. As a result, Cuba has experienced blackouts, food shortages, and disruptions to medical infrastructure

Initially intended as a flotilla, the Nuestra América Convoy is global coordinated effort to deliver of humanitarian supplies to Cuba by air, land, and sea. It is expected to arrive in Havana on March 21. In addition to Kneecap, Ada Colau, Greta Thunberg, Jeremy Corbyn, Hasan Piker, and Rashida Tlaib have expressed support for the convoy.
