Lamb of God have just dropped their new song ‘Sepsis’, a crushing, sludge-inspired track paying homage to their hometown of Richmond, Virginia. The single also marks their first non-collaborative track since 2022.
Lamb of God are back, baby.
The Virginia metal group has dropped ‘Sepsis’, the band’s first non-collaborative track since 2022. If you’ve been waiting to hear an absolutely filthy, crushing Lamb of God track, well, you’re in luck, because ‘Sepsis’ is pure sludge.
In a statement, guitarist Mark Morton explained that they intended the song to have a heavy, but nostalgic vibe. He would go on to say the song is “a celebration of the very underground local bands here in Richmond that we really admired when we were just forming Burn The Priest.”
The guitarist would continue, ” Bands like Breadwinner, Sliang Laos, and Ladyfinger – though they never got widespread attention outside of Richmond, those were the bands we listened to all the time.”
“The song references that stuff in a way that’s a direct line to where we were coming from when we were in the basement writing our earliest material together.”
The track was produced by longtime collaborator Josh Wilbur, and arrives with a grainy, lo-fi performance video directed by Glanfranco Svagelj.

‘Sepsis’ also arrives on Lamb of God’s 25th anniversary. Earlier this year, the band performed at the historic Back To The Beginning concert, which raised $190 million for charity. The Virginia rockers would then release their iconic take on Black Sabbath‘s ‘Children of the Grave’.
Since releasing their previous album, Omens, in 2022, the group has gone on to release collaborative tracks with industrial metal band HEALTH and gothic metal band Lacuna Coil.
It’s unclear if ‘Sepsis’ is the first of many new tracks to be rolled out in promotion for a new album, but either way, it’s great to hear new Lamb of God at the top of their form as always.
