Mark Ruffalo Slams Kevin O’Leary Over Billie Eilish ICE Backlash: ‘Why Don’t You STFU?’

Mark Ruffalo has fired back at Kevin O’Leary after the Shark Tank star criticised Billie Eilish for using her Grammys acceptance speech to condemn ICE.

Last weekend, Eilish won Song of the Year for ‘Wildflower’, taken from Hit Me Hard And Soft, during her speech, the singer delivered a blunt message while wearing an “ICE OUT” pin.

“No one is illegal on stolen land,” she said. “I feel like we just need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting, and our voices really do matter, and the people matter… and f**k ICE.”

The remarks drew swift backlash from conservative figures, including Kristi Noem, who labelled Eilish “ill-informed,” and Elon Musk, who called her a “hypocrite.” (per NME)

O’Leary also weighed in, appearing on Fox News to argue celebrities should stay silent on politics.

“Half the people in politics that you p**s off won’t buy your music anymore,” he said.

“It’s the first lesson 101 for celebrity: as you rise up, whether you’re a film star, a music star, or whatever, shut your mouth and just entertain.”

Ruffalo came to Eilish’s defence on Threads

“Why don’t you STFU?” Ruffalo wrote. “It’s hilarious. You will go on any show and talk sh*t about any number of things and smugly expect us to listen to you.”

“But you will dig into a real artist that dwarfs anything you dream of doing for actually saying something that resonates with 100’s of millions of people the world over. It’s astounding the fantasy double standard Kevin O’Leary lives in. You played yourself well in Marty Supreme.”

Ruffalo has been outspoken on immigration issues for years, at the Golden Globes last month, he wore a badge honouring Renee Good, who was shot dead by an ICE agent in Minneapolis.

“So this is for her,” Ruffalo said at the time. “This is for the people in the United States who are terrorised and scared today… what I’m seeing here happening is not America.”

Eilish’s brother Finneas also defended her, writing, “Seeing a lot of very powerful old white men outraged about what my 24-year-old sister said… We can literally see your names in the Epstein files.”
