Apple TV+’s Severance dominates the 77th Emmys with a whopping 27 nominations, but we’re here for Marty and Mr Ford.
The 2025 Emmy Award nominations are in! Television’s – or whatever passes for television these days – 77th night of nights takes place on September 14, with this year’s nominations announced by actors Brenda Song (Running Point) and Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows) yesterday.
The Apple TV+ dystopian workplace drama Severance leads the pack with a staggering 27 nominations. Close behind is Warner’s The Penguin, with 24 nods, while the third season of The White Lotus snapped up 23.
So too did Seth Rogen‘s Hollywood satire, The Studio. One of those is for legendary director Martin Scorsese, nominated in the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series category. Casting an eye over Marty’s laundry list of awards and nominations, this appears to be the first time he’s been considered for an acting gig, which is nice.
He’s got stiff competition, though, and mainly from his castmates. Of the seven nominations in that category, six are for The Studio – the outlier being Jon Bernthal for The Bear.
And speaking of comedy, grumpy old Harrison Ford, the world’s favourite curmudgeon, has been nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in recognition for his turn as Dr. Paul Rhoades in Apple TV+’s Shrinking. This marks Ford’s first Emmy nomination, and out of all this year’s nods it’s the one I’ve my fingers crossed for: a) the speech is likely to be an all-timer, and b) I called it about three episodes in.
And speaking of nominations, here’s the full list, with occasional commentary by yr obt svt.

Outstanding Drama Series
Andor
The Diplomat
The Last of Us

Outstanding Comedy Series
Abbott Elementary
The Bear
Hacks
Nobody Wants This
Only Murders in the Building
Shrinking
The Studio
What We Do in the Shadows
The Bear has always sat oddly in the comedy category, but that doesn’t mean it won’t win here. Having said that, The Studio is worth keeping an eye on – Hollywood loves stories about Hollywood.
