Mastodon’s Brann Dailor Has Shared Footage From Brent Hinds’ Memorial Walk

Mastodon members joined The March of Brent Hinds in Atlanta over the weekend to celebrate the life of the former guitarist.

A march celebrating the life of the former Mastodon vocalist and guitarist Brent Hinds took place on Sunday (August 31) in Atlanta, Georgia.

Hinds passed away on August 20 after colliding with an SUV while riding a motorcycle at an intersection. A police report was released earlier this week revealing that the car had failed to yield and, per one witness, drove through a red light, resulting in the collision. Hinds would pass away in transit to the hospital.

Drummer Brann Dailor would post this message and video, tagging his fellow Mastodon members (sans Troy Sanders, who does not have social media):

“The March of Brent Hinds started at El Myr and took over the streets, blocking traffic as hundreds of us walked together. The march ended at the Star Bar, where they were spinning the best of Brent. It was a beautiful start to a day filled with music, laughter, tears, and memories that will stay with us forever.”

Dailor would pay tribute to Hinds at the end of Mastodon’s first concert after Hinds had passed away.

Speaking at the Alaska State Fair show on August 22, the drummer would say:

“We loved him so, so, so very much. And we had the ups and downs of a 25-year relationship, you know what I mean? It’s not always perfect, it’s not always amazing, but we were brothers to the end,” the drummer shared.

“I don’t know. We’re just at a loss for words. We’re absolutely devastated and crushed to lose him and to be able to never have him back again. But you guys made it OK for us to come on stage and do this tonight. So that was for fucking Brent, OK? Thank you guys so much.”

He concluded: “Thank you for helping us get through that one, it was fucking tough for us. But you guys are fucking amazing, so thank you.”
