Melbourne alt-rock outfit Bad Juju return with ‘Honey’, a grunge-soaked single exploring the mental toll of toxic relationships.
Melbourne alt-rock outfit Bad Juju are back at it with a new single titled ‘Honey’ – a moody, hard-hitting track that pushes their signature sound into darker, heavier territory.
Released today (May 28) – although first premiering yesterday on triple j’s CORE with Jack Bergin (Void of Vision) – ‘Honey’ marks the band’s first new music since their 2023 album Blue Heaven, which was widely praised for its gritty textures and raw honesty. The new single arrives hot off the back of a national support tour with French metalcore act LANDMVRKS, giving fans around Australia an early taste of the band’s next chapter.
Produced by Jack Newlyn (Between You & Me, Belle Haven, Teenage Joans) and mixed & mastered by Sam Bassal (Ocean Grove, Thornhill), ‘Honey’ throws itself headfirst into the chaos. It’s a track that doesn’t waste time easing in – it hits immediately with Bad Juju’s now-distinct blend of grungy alt-rock and emotional weight.
Lyrically, Honey explores the emotional aftermath of toxic relationships. It captures the momentary high of walking away, and the sobering reality that freedom isn’t always clean-cut. It’s introspective, unflinching, and delivered with the kind of intensity that’s become synonymous with Bad Juju’s work.
