Noel Gallagher To Collect BRIT Award For Songwriter Of The Year Following Oasis Reunion

Share

Noel Gallagher is heading home, the Oasis songwriter will attend this year’s BRIT Awards to collect the Songwriter Of The Year honour, following the band’s massively successful reunion run last year.

The 2026 BRITs will take place at Manchester’s Co-op Live arena, marking the first time in the ceremony’s near 50 year history that it’s being held outside London (per NME). For Gallagher, it means collecting the award in his hometown, off the back of a year that saw Oasis reconnect with a new generation while reaffirming their legacy.

In a press statement, the BRITs described the award as recognising “exceptional songwriting”, adding: “Noel Gallagher’s songwriting has permeated the fabric of British culture for over 30 years, from his seminal work with Oasis to his ambitious and acclaimed solo albums with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

“His songs span generations and have continued to resonate with audiences around the world like no other.”

The statement continued:

“Noel’s songwriting for Oasis defined a cultural movement, delivering seven studio albums and forming a catalogue which contains some of the most recognisable songs in British music history.”

Stacey Tang, Chair of the 2026 BRIT Awards Committee and Co-President of RCA Records at Sony Music UK, echoed the sentiment: “For more than three decades, Noel has crafted songs that have become part of our collective story – bold, brilliant, and always recognisable.”

“His songs have soundtracked memories for multiple generations and defined the spirit of British music globally. Honouring Noel as Songwriter of the Year celebrates a remarkable body of work and a creative force that continues to connect and inspire artists and fans worldwide.”

Reunion tour

The award follows Oasis’ sprawling 41 date reunion tour, which kicked off in Cardiff on July 4th last year and included multiple hometown shows at Manchester’s Heaton Park, seven nights at Wembley Stadium, and dates across Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Americas.

Speaking recently on Radio 5’s Football Daily, Gallagher hinted that downtime was brief. “The holiday was good. But, yeah, back at work on Monday. So it’s all good, mate,” he said. Reflecting on the reunion, he added: “It went rather well, didn’t it?”

While Oasis announced a “pause” following the tour’s conclusion in Brazil, rumours of future shows and new music continue to swirl, fuelled by Gallagher’s return to work and a forthcoming documentary produced by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.
