Australian heavyweights Northlane have officially lifted the curtain on their seventh studio album, Anemoia, arriving on October 30th via Independent / Immortal Music Group.
Alongside the announcement, Northlane has released the crushing new single “CUT_it”, while confirming their biggest Australian headline tour to date for November.
The latest track showcases another evolution in Northlane’s sound, while tackling the emotional and physical toll of burnout, frontman Marcus Bridge explores a darker vocal approach before the song explodes into the band’s signature crushing heaviness.
“CUT_it is about burnout – the feeling of grinding through things when you’re completely spent, mentally and physically. The imagery is deliberately visceral, painting a picture of that exhaustion rather than analysing it,” says Bridge.

Anemoia
The new album follows the band’s ARIA chart topping 2022 release, Obsidian, and sees Northlane continuing to blur the boundaries between electronic music and modern metal.
Executive produced by Jordan Fish, the album draws inspiration from trance music after guitarist Jon Deiley experienced a transformative live set from UK producer Evian Christ, that influence is woven throughout the record, combining soaring electronic textures with thunderous riffs, big breakdowns, drum and bass rhythms and moments of unexpected melody.
The album’s title references the feeling of longing for a time or place you’ve never experienced, according to the band, that idea fuels the emotional push and pull throughout the record, balancing optimism against the harsh realities of modern life.
“There’s darkness here, but it’s not nihilism – and there’s hope, but it’s not naivety,” adds Bridge.
With more than 15 years at the forefront of heavy music, multiple chart topping albums and over 500 million streams worldwide, Northlane continue to redefine what modern metal can sound like. Anemoia looks set to push that evolution even further.
