A married couple bent on murder are interrupted by a gang of hardened criminals in Jorma Taccone’s Over Your Dead Body.
There’s already a Samara Weaving horror flick in cinemas this very minute: the pretty great Ready Or Not 2: Here I Come, which is well worth catching on the big screen. There’s also a new Samara Weaving horror flick, Borderline, just out on VOD. And now, seemingly because there must always be a Samara Weaving horror flick about to release, comes our first look at Over Your Dead Body, the next… well, you get the picture.
Over Your Dead Body Trailer
What’s the plot?
Don’t think I’m complaining, though; I’m an avowed fan.
As the official synopsis tells us:
When miserable couple Dan and Lisa retreat to a remote cabin for a romantic reset, each arrives with a secret plan to murder the other. Their carefully plotted traps and counterplots quickly unravel when a dangerous crew crashes the weekend with plans of their own. As the toxic getaway spirals into chaotic carnage, Dan and Lisa must survive the intruders, each other, and figure out if they want to save their marriage or survive it.
Who’s in it?

The film itself is a remake of the very good 2021 Norwegian film The Trip, starring Aksel Hennie (Max Manus: Man Of War) and Noomi Rapace (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo), which is currently streaming on Netflix. Original director Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow) was penciled in to direct then English language version as well, but at some point was replaced by the Lonely Island’s Jorma Taccone (Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping).
When’s it out?
Over Your Dead Body hits cinemas on April 24.
What’s the vibe?
Looks like a good time, but don’t sleep on the original.
