Ozzy Osbourne Biopic Moves Forward, Jack Says The Actor Playing Ozzy Is ‘Phenomenal’

The long teased Ozzy Osbourne biopic is finally starting to feel real, not just another rock industry “we’re working on it” that disappears into the void.

Ozzy’s son Jack Osbourne has shared a fresh update on the film’s progress, confirming the project is charging into its next stage after years of slow burn development.

Jack appeared on a holiday episode of Influenced, the SiriusXM show hosted by musician and artist Billy Morrison, where he broke down where things are currently sitting with the movie.

“We are in full steam in the next phase of development with this movie. That’s an acted movie that we’ve been developing with Sony studios for, like, six years already.”

So yeah, it’s been a long time coming, but it sounds like the wheels are properly turning now.

The Actor Playing Ozzy Has Been Chosen (But Not Revealed)

The big question everyone always asks is of course, who’s playing Ozzy? Jack says the casting decision has been made, but the name is still locked behind studio doors for now.

“We have our decided pick, and I can’t say anything [yet], but it’s a phenomenal, phenomenal actor. We have a director attached, and we’re doing a rewrite right now.”

That’s about as close to “it’s happening” as you can get without dropping the actual actor’s name.

The Film Will Focus On Ozzy And Sharon’s Love Story

The biopic was first reported by Variety back in October 2021, stating Ozzy and Sharon had partnered with Sony Pictures and Polygram Entertainment, with the film focusing on the love story between the Black Sabbath frontman and Sharon Osbourne.

During the Osbournes’ revived podcast in April 2024, Ozzy was blunt as ever about wanting to actually see the movie finished.

“By the time they finish this film, I’ll be dead… I wanna be alive to fucking see it,” Ozzy said at the time.

Sharon also made it clear they weren’t chasing a sanitised, glossy version of their lives either:

“We don’t want it to be squeaky, shiny clean and all of that,” she said. “We’re not making it for kids. It’s an adult movie for adults.”

Now it’s just a waiting game to see who steps into the Prince of Darkness’ boots.
