Ozzy Osbourne Is Releasing A New Memoir, ‘Last Rites’, Reflecting On His Career And Health

Ozzy Osbourne’s new memoir Last Rites is set to be an emotional retrospective on one of metal’s most enigmatic figures.

Following his bittersweet final performance with Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne has announced that he’ll be releasing a new memoir titled Last Rites on October 7th this year.

The Prince of Darkness released his first memoir, I Am Ozzy, back in 2010, before Trust Me, I’m Dr. Ozzy: Advice from Rock’s Ultimate Survivor in 2012. However, with Last Rites, Ozzy Osbourne will be sharing his journey with his various health issues, including his Parkinson’s diagnosis. The book will also share more details about his relationship with his wife and manager, Sharon Osbourne, so fans of the hit MTV series The Osbournes are getting the sequel they deserve.

The memoir’s announcement describes it as “the shocking, bitterly hilarious, never-before-told story of Osbourne’s descent into hell.”

“At the age of 69, Ozzy Osbourne was on a triumphant farewell tour, playing to sold-out arenas and rave reviews all around the world,” the description says. “Then disaster. In a matter of just a few weeks, he went from being hospitalised with a finger infection to having to abandon his tour — and all public life — as he faced near-total paralysis from the neck down.”

The memoir’s announcement comes less than a week after his emotional farewell performance at the Back to the Beginning concert. The concert raised over $190 million for charity, making it one of the most successful fundraising performances in history.

Ozzy Osbourne also shared in a press release that his memoir will cover recent and past career highlights, including how he prepared for the Back to the Beginning concert and meeting legendary rock icons like Bon Scott, John Bonham, and Keith Moon. He also revealed he’ll be disclosing the “harrowing final moments” he spent with Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister.

It’s not often we get to hear Ozzy Osbourne get so candid and introspective about their life. As written in the new book, he confessed he wouldn’t change a thing, sharing, “People say to me, if you could do it all again, knowing what you know now, would you change anything? I’m like, fuck no,” Osbourne writes.

“If I’d been clean and sober, I wouldn’t be Ozzy. If I’d done normal, sensible things, I wouldn’t be Ozzy. Look, if it ends tomorrow, I can’t complain. I’ve been all around the world. Seen a lot of things. I’ve done good … and I’ve done bad. But right now, I’m not ready to go anywhere.”
