Ozzy Osbourne Was Told He’d ‘Probably Die’ Weeks Before Final Black Sabbath Show

Ozzy Osbourne’s final concert in Birmingham wasn’t just a farewell to Black Sabbath, it was a man staring down the clock and choosing the stage anyway.

Sharon Osbourne has revealed that the Prince of Darkness was warned he could ‘probably die’ just two weeks before his last performance at ‘Back to the Beginning’ on July 5, 2025th (per Ultimate Classic Rock).

The all star tribute at Villa Park saw Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Tool, Steven Tyler and more gather to honour the band that birthed heavy metal, less than three weeks later, we lost Ozzy.

Speaking on the Dumb Blonde podcast, Sharon didn’t soften the reality.

“Two weeks before the show, they said he could probably die, and he did,” she admitted. “But he wanted to do it so bad. He needed it. And it’s, like, ‘Whether I die in two weeks or I die in six months, I’m still dying. And I wanna go my way.’ And he did. He went like a rock star.”

‘Ozzy, This Could Kill You’

Ozzy had battled sepsis the year before, a condition that rarely leaves people untouched, Sharon said the family knew things had shifted after that.

“Ozzy had sepsis earlier on last year. And very few people ever walk away from that without losing a limb or their life…” she explained. “And when he came out, they said, ‘You know, Ozzy, this could kill you.’ And he said, ‘I’m doing my show.’ And it was — I mean, he went out like a king.”

It’s a brutal detail, but it tracks, Ozzy built his career on defiance, if the choice was hospital bed or hometown roar, there was never really a debate.

“He went the way he wanted to go,” Sharon said. “It was so quick. And thank God. And I knew when they were trying to revive him, I knew. I’m, like, ‘Don’t. Don’t do it. Leave him.’ He was done. But again, he went out like a rock star.”

For fans, that Birmingham night now hits harder, it wasn’t just a send off, it was Ozzy taking his final bow exactly how he wanted, loud, unapologetic, and in front of his people.
