Ripped To Shreds Drop Out Of Show With Master & Call Out Group For Playing Festival With “Neo Nazis”

Ripped To Shreds have pulled out of their show with fellow death metal band Master after the group had performed at a festival believed to be Metal Threat last week. The band would write, “Refusing to play with a neonazi band like Arghoslent – that glorifies the black slave trade is the lowest possible bar and Master still failed it.”

American death metal group Ripped To Shreds have announced that they’re pulling out of their Berkeley, California, show with Master after the group performed at the controversial Metal Threat festival in Chicago, Illinois, last weekend.

The festival featured a controversial lineup and faced backlash for including bands linked to the National Socialist black metal movement. Other acts on the bill included Inquisition (where white supremacy is one of many controversies following the band) and Arghoslent, who have been accused of holding white supremacist beliefs and sharing them in their music.

Metal Threat would also see dozens of bands drop out of the festival in the lead-up due to visa and scheduling issues.

Ripped to Shreds would specifically call out Arghoslent’s and their controversial lyrics regarding the black slave trade.

The band would share the following statement yesterday, Monday, October 6th, via Instagram:

“Refusing to play with a neonazi band like Arghoslent that glorifies the black slave trade is the lowest possible bar, and master still failed it, so we’re withdrawing from Friday’s show at @924gilmanstreet support to @bitterendbooking for doing the right thing and cancelling the show,” wrote the band.

“We’re still leaving heavy talent, but I would like to clarify that heavy talent only reps sinister, the sinister and master tour was booked as a package, and master booked their show with Metal Threat directly through Paul Dunski and not through heavy talent.”

Master has yet to respond to the comments made by the band or their involvement in performing at Metal Threat.

Ripped To Shreds frontman Andrew Lee recently spoke out against heavy metal’s issues with white supremacy in a recent video, which also alludes to Metal Threat’s lineup controversy.
