Scene Queen Goes Heavier Than Ever On New Single ‘Metalicious’ Featuring Left To Suffer

Share

Scene Queen is turning up the intensity with the release of her crushing new single “Metalicious,” teaming up with deathcore outfit Left To Suffer for one of the heaviest tracks of her career.

The new Scene Queen song also serves as the title track from her upcoming EP, Metalicious, due for release on September 11th, marking the next evolution of the artist’s signature “Bimbocore” sound.

Known for blending sugary pop hooks with crushing breakdowns and razor sharp social commentary, Scene Queen has built a loyal following by refusing to play by the rules, with “Metalicious,” she’s leaning even further into metal while keeping the chaotic energy fans have come to expect.

Speaking about the new collaboration, Scene Queen said:

“METALICIOUS Featuring Left To Suffer is what happens if a tumblr indie sleaze club song was written in metal font. The song takes you through girls night at a metal show. The band is heavy, the drinks are flowing, and the girls are whipping their purses in the moshpit.”

Listen to ‘Metalicious’ here.

The singer says the upcoming EP captures everything she loves about making music, combining nostalgic Y2K inspired pop influences with the heaviest material she’s ever recorded:

“METALICIOUS the EP is as chaotic recession pop, y2k – coded, metal madness. I wanted an EP that was as fun to make as when I was writing the Bimbocore volumes and making music was fresh and new to me. In the spirit of Bimbocore, I experimented with the pop influences, but this time the heavy parts are the heaviest they’ve ever been. From deathcore features, to me laying down some of my lowest screams yet, this ep was as fun to make for me as it sounds through out. Yes there’s some trauma dumping in there, but it’s a Scene Queen EP so what do you expect.”

What genre barrier?

The new release continues Scene Queen’s mission of tearing down genre barriers, since emerging as one of alternative music’s most distinctive new voices, she’s mixed pop, metalcore and internet culture into a sound that’s become uniquely her own, while using her lyrics to challenge misogyny, gatekeeping and outdated attitudes within heavy music.

Adding Left To Suffer’s brutal vocals only amplifies that vision, resulting in a track that feels equally at home on a metal festival stage and a chaotic late-night dancefloor.

If “Metalicious” is any indication, Scene Queen’s next chapter is set to be louder, heavier and more unapologetic than ever.
