System Of A Down fans have another reason to keep an eye on the band’s members ahead of their long awaited Australian return, with bassist Shavo Odadjian set to appear in the upcoming season of Dexter: Resurrection.
According to newly released casting details, Odadjian will play a character named R.H. Martin in the next instalment of the hit crime drama, which is expected to arrive on Paramount+ and Showtime later this year (per Lamb Goat).
While official details about the character remain under wraps, first look images have already sparked plenty of speculation with one promotional still shows Odadjian wrapped in plastic, an unmistakable visual callback to Dexter Morgan’s infamous kill room.
It seems likely the System Of A Down bassist may be portraying one of the serial killer’s future victims or villains, it’s another unexpected acting credit for the musician, who has previously appeared in film and television projects alongside his decades long career with one of heavy music’s most influential bands.
System Of a Down’s Australian return
The news also arrives just days after System Of A Down sent Australian fans into a frenzy by announcing their first headline tour of the country in more than a decade.
Joined by Faith No More, the stadium run will mark the band’s first Australian shows since Soundwave 2012, with performances locked in for Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane next February, the announcement follows comments from drummer John Dolmayan explaining why System Of A Down tour so infrequently, revealing the scarcity is entirely intentional:
“Every show we play is always special for us, cause there’s so few of them. It’s by design though. We like to tour very limited. We like to be home most of the time.”
That philosophy has helped turn every System Of A Down tour announcement into a global event, making next year’s Australian dates among the most anticipated rock shows of 2027.
