If your idea of a good night out involves blast beats, impossible guitar runs, and the kind of riffs that make your neck file a formal complaint, Shred Fest 2026 has you covered.
The travelling extreme metal festival is set to rip through Australia and New Zealand this September, led by two heavy hitters of modern technical metal in Obscura (GER) and Fallujah (USA).
Obscura return off the back of multiple successful runs down here, this time bringing their latest record ‘A Sonication’ into the mix as part of their ongoing world tour, if you’ve seen them live before, you already know they hit hard.
Fallujah are also back in the country, promising a set loaded with material from their new album ‘Xenotaph’, and if their shows are anything like the music suggests, it’ll feel like being launched into space and punched in the throat at the same time.
Australian support
Perth’s Ashen will deliver their crushing death-doom weight across most of the Australian run, while Sydney’s Anoxia are locked in for Canberra, Sydney, and Melbourne, bringing their raw, old-school death metal bite to the party.
There’ll also be additional guests in every city, meaning each stop will come with its own extra dose of live music.
Obscura summed up the vibe perfectly via a press release, saying:
“We’re thrilled to bring Shred Fest to Australia in 2026 alongside the crushing talents of Fallujah, Anoxia, and Ashen. It’s been a long time coming, and we’re ready to deliver a relentless set for our fans down under. No VIP packages — every band will be at the venue to meet you, talk music, and celebrate the most extreme sounds around. Come early, stay late, and support every act. We can’t wait to see you all there.”
