For years, the idea of new Snot music felt like wishful thinking for fans of late ’90s alternative metal.
Now, according to guitarist Mikey Doling, the long awaited comeback record is not only real, it’s shaping up to be one of the band’s most important releases yet.
Speaking in a new interview, Doling revealed the reactivated Santa Barbara heavyweights are targeting an early 2027 release for their first full length studio album since 1997’s cult classic Get Some (per Blabbermouth).
By the sound of it, they’re not easing back into action.
“We are on it. I mean, we mean business with this album.”
New album to feature Andy Knapp
The record will be the first to feature vocalist Andy Knapp, who made his live debut with the band in early 2025, for Doling, finding the right person to step into the impossible shadow left by late frontman Lynn Strait was the key to finally moving forward.
“First I gotta say, filling Lynn Strait’s shoes is not fucking easy, man… we finally found Andy.”
The guitarist praised Knapp’s chemistry with the band, saying his energy and understanding of Snot’s DNA made the decision to write new material feel natural, working with producer Chris Collier, the band are reportedly eight songs deep into the record, with Doling describing the material as a faithful continuation of classic Snot.
“It’s punk rock. It’s got that funk element to it. We kept it real.”
Fans can expect the same groove heavy aggression and off kilter lounge flourishes that made Get Some a cult favourite, with Doling saying the goal has been to stay true to the band’s original lane rather than reinvent the formula.
The current plan is to release the first single before the end of 2026, followed by another track and a full album rollout in spring 2027 ahead of festival appearances, after decades of false starts, lineup changes and uncertainty, Snot finally sound fully locked in.
