Original report, 16 October 2026:
Soen postponed their Australian tour following a family emergency, announcing the change on Thursday, 15 October, ahead of the scheduled Melbourne opener on Friday, 16 October.
In a statement shared in promoter ThePhoenix.au’s original postponement notice, reproduced by HEAVY, the band said the news reached them as they were preparing to fly to Australia.
“While we were at the airport checking in on our way to Australia we received some terrible family news,” Soen said.
The band apologised to fans, the promoter and venues, and asked for patience while the shows were rescheduled. The promoter’s notice identified drummer Martin Lopez and his family as those affected, without providing further details.
The original dates were:
- Friday, 16 October: 170 Russell, Melbourne
- Saturday, 17 October: Manning Bar, Sydney
- Monday, 19 October: Crowbar, Brisbane
At the time of the postponement, ThePhoenix.au said it hoped to announce replacement dates within two weeks. The confirmed January 2027 dates are listed in the update above and on the promoter’s current tour page.
Moshtix initially marked both the Melbourne and Sydney shows as postponed. The Sydney listing directed ticket holders to check their emails for further information. The public notices reviewed for the original report did not confirm whether existing tickets would remain valid or outline refund arrangements.
The run was set to be Soen’s first Australian tour. In an interview with No Barriers ahead of the visit, vocalist Joel Ekelöf said the band had been talking about coming to Australia for years.
Australian progressive instrumental trio The Omnific were scheduled to support, with a set celebrating their tenth anniversary. Their involvement in the rescheduled shows remains unconfirmed.
Ticket holders should check their booking emails or contact their ticket provider about arrangements for the rescheduled shows.
