Sydney hardcore outfit Speed have shared a backstage look at AEW Grand Slam Australia, after being invited into the inner circle at Qudos Bank Arena on Valentine’s Day.
The clip, filmed by the band and edited by Darryl Carulli, captures Speed roaming the corridors of All Elite Wrestling’s massive Sydney event, catering trays, wrestlers warming up, pre show nerves in the air.
It’s a rare crossover moment between hardcore and pro wrestling, and it’s a very fun watch as the two worlds collide:
Even better, their track ‘The First Test’ from 2024’s Only One Mode was tapped as the official theme for the event, hearing a Sydney hardcore anthem blast through a packed arena before bodies start flying? That’s a level-up.
Hardcore Meets The Squared Circle
Speed have never hidden their love for wrestling culture, the theatrics, the loyalty, the community. It mirrors hardcore in more ways than people admit, seeing them backstage at AEW, grinning like kids who snuck into the VIP section is just amazing, and feels earned.
The footage shows them soaking it all in before the bell rings, then cuts to the chaos of the live matches, Australian crowds are loud at the best of times, but when you put wrestling in the mix, it’s a different beast entirely.
For a band that thrives on intensity and connection, the alignment makes sense, ‘The First Test’ carries that stomp and swing energy that works just as well in a pit as it does soundtracking a suplex.
Global Domination Mode
The AEW cameo lands as Speed gear up for a monster 2026 run, they’ll hit Mexico, South America, the UK, Japan, and across Asia in the coming months, from Monterrey to Manila, they’re taking Sydney hardcore worldwide (per Metal Sucks).
If you’ve seen them live, you already know, if you haven’t, fix that.
